Let's talk about: (No More) Peanut butter sandwiches!

Life is tough; dreams sometimes diverge or are destroyed.  Success and happiness begin to be measure and defined not by societal standards or material wealth, but by determination, patience, and perception.  Author and pastor, Jeff Davidson, faces life's difficulties and disappointments with honesty, humor, and simplicity in his book, No More Peanut Butter Sandwiches, which focuses on the struggles and emotions involved with raising a child with special needs.

Davidson tackles the issues of accepting, coping, and ultimately loving a child born with disabilities with a no-nonsense approach that proposes that parents and families replace the common "why" mentality with the more productive, positive "how to" mentality.  He challenges readers to retrain their minds to not only accept individual differences, but to embrace their grief, then embrace the positive side of these differences--not only when facing a child being born with disabilities, but when faced with any of life's seeming disappointments.

Davidson repeatedly urges us to view life as a blessing and to stop the senseless comparison of self, children, and life to others.  He furthers that life is best lived and enjoyed by immersing ourselves in simplicity.  He believes that the key to success is embracing joy and sorrow as it is through both that we grow, learn, and appreciate.

Davidson's No More Peanut Butter Sandwiches reaches out fundamentally to those living with and loving children with special needs, but his message is one for every individual as it speaks to the need for letting go of fear and worry and grabbing hold of gratitude and unconditional love in all facets of relationships and life.
